Within the scope of the project, PeBeKa erected the main building of the surface central air conditioning station at the R-IX shaft of the “Rudna” copper ore mine operated by KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. The project comprised also the construction of access roads and yards, as well as cooling towers for chiller units and free cooling equipment. The company was also responsible for the installation of all equipment at the station. It is the only facility of this type located in the Legnica-Głogów Copper Belt.

Project outline

The building has a steel structure. The station's main function is to cool water down to the temperature of +1.5°C and to deliver it to the underground cooling installation of the central air conditioning system. Because of various technical functions, the station building is divided into the high part (+6.2 m) and the low part (+3.5 m). The high part includes a machinery room and the low part holds a pumping station, an electrical equipment room, an instrumentation control room, as well as employee break rooms. The free cooling equipment is mounted on the ten towers connected with the main building.

Greatest challenges
