In search of new markets
PeBeKa's President Jacek Kulicki stayed in 16-21 October with a working visit in Tehran, during which talks were held about development of mining in Iran and about establishment of co-operation.
The significance of the visit from Poland caused the event to reverberate in Iranian media. The "Tehran Times” daily of 19 October in the article "Presidents of a great mining holding from Poland with a visit in Iran” stressed that the visitors from Poland represented a very serious partner - one of the Polish largest exporters and manufacturers of copper and silver worldwide. As stated by Mehdi Karbasian, deputy minister for industry, mining and trade, the interest from the side of large international companies was caused by large demand for foreign investments in Iran. The Polish delegation came at the invitation of Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, the Iranian Minister of Mining and Trade.
The visit of the President of PeBeKa and of other Capital Group companies in the Middle East is a consequence of talks started in autumn last year, concerning co-operation between Poland and Iran. Also KGHM Polska Miedź Group companies, including Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Kopalń PeBeKa, were invited to co-operate. On 14 September a meeting was held with Ramin Mehmanparast, the Iranian ambassador in Poland, during which the Capital Group companies' profiles and experience was presented.
The working visit in Iran is a consequence of that meeting and another step on the way to building co-operation in mining, says President Jacek Kulicki. Middle-East markets are very attractive for investments, as they are home to numerous and valuable mineral deposits.
